FUNDING

The total cost of running Carers of West Lothian is currently just over £200.000 per year and we are always seeking funding for projects aimed at bettering the lives of carers.

The Value of Unpaid Volunteers

Carers of West Lothian is a Scottish Charity run by carers for carers.  Many people give up their time without payment to help run the organisation and to assist the salaried staff in providing services for carers.  The value of their contribution does not appear in our accounts but it is considerable and very important.  If you feel that you could help by volunteering then please get in touch.

Funding Sources

Core Funding:  Funds are provided by West Lothian Council (WLC) and NHS Lothian to finance the core services provided by Carers in West Lothian. This part of our funding is based on service level agreements under which we agree to provide specified services.

PRTC Funding:  We joined the Princess Royal Trust for Carers (PRTC) network in 2000 and this included development funding for the first 3 years.  The PRTC continue to fund specific projects and are presently supporting the cost of moving to a wider use of volunteers.

Project Funding: To finance specific projects, financial help has been received from The Community Fund (Outreach) The Scottish Executive (Broxburn Partnership Development) PRTC (Volunteer Development) and WLC (Young Carers).  When we plan new or continuing projects, we apply to potential funding sources for financial support. We will not proceed with a project until sufficient funding has been assured and sometimes worthwhile projects have to be cancelled or delayed due to the lack of sufficient funds.

Donations & Bequests: We are grateful for financial support from many individuals and organisations. No donation is too small. If you support our aims and would like to contribute, please get in touch with the office or e-mail treasurer@carers-westlothian.com

Fund-raising: We organise events, either by ourselves or in conjunction with other organisations like PRTC, to raise funds.

Interest: We invest any funds that are not needed immediately in order to benefit from interest.
