Carers Group

Carers Group

Event type : Support Group

Event location : 6.30pm - 8.30pm, Strathbrock Partnership Centre, 189a West Main Street, Broxburn

Event date : 27-06-2012

Carers of West Lothian recognise the value that carers place on meeting together to share their experiences. This can reduce feelings of isolation and can provide a network of support than can enhance your general well being. The group is very much led by the needs and wants of the carers and has so far been a mix of social gathering, information and support, followed by tea/coffee and a blether.

The evening support group meets on the last Wednesday of each month (except July, August & December). They meet from 6.30-8.30 in the Strathbrock Partnership Centre in Broxburn. The group invites a speaker for the first part of the meeting and is open to all carers regardless of the condition of the person they care for.

Wednesday 27th June 12 - Jo Bluett, Laughter Therapist

Laughter really is the best medicine! When we laugh we produce endorphins - our happy, feel good hormones which also act as our natural pain killers. Laughter also helps to strenthen our immune system, reduces stress and tension, boosts our circulation and also boosts our creativity and positivity. But the best news is that the brain cannot tell the difference between fake laughter and real laughter - so we use laughter exercises through laughter yoga which enables us to generate laughter and all its amazing health benefits at times when we find it difficult to laugh due to life's challenges or even feel we have nothing to laugh about.

Jo's Laughter Workshop will refer to scientific research, encourage you to relax, play and be creative through fun and games and also introduce you to laughter yoga (involving laughter exercises, deep breathing and strecthing). No jokes or comedy - just pure natural joy - making you feel younger, healthier and happier!
