West Lothian's Carers given a helping hand to lift the depressionFollowing on from the two successful courses run for carers in 2005, Carers of West Lothian is running a six week course for carers of those suffering from Depression and Anxiety. The course is designed to give carers a better insight into both illnesses and also aims to provide some advice on ways those carers and sufferers can try to manage the conditions. In an attempt to cover as many issues as possible we have speakers from the Psychology department at St Johns Hospital dealing with the diagnosis and conventional medicines used to treat depression. Secondly we also look at alternative ideas on how carers and sufferers can work together to make some changes, which are intended to help reduce the stress of their caring situation and eventually help both parties to move on with their lives. The course will be run on consecutive Tuesdays from the 29th of August until the 3rd of October and will be held in the Strathbrock Partnership Centre189a West Main Street, Broxburn. The times are 10:00am -12:30pm and a buffet lunch will be provided free of charge for all carers attending.
